The SGE 400/3 mask has been designed to meet military and civil defense requirements. It features three possible filter ports, allowing for comfortable aiming of a rifle, or usage of equipment. Along with glasses adapters and speech diaphragms, it can also accept a drinking tube and microphone connection, making it an ideal prolonged and specialist usage.

The entire body of the masks is made of a strong, rigid material (polycarbonate) and is therefore able to allow full protection for the face and eyes against extremely violent impacts. It replaces the rubber bodies previously employed by traditional designs to bear the weight to which the mask is subjected. Additionally, the face shield has been treated to resist exposure to aggressive substances, like mustard gas.

Due to the use of an integral load-bearing face-piece, it was possible to make the rubber face-seal much lighter, as its only function is to act as a seal. The seal is made of very soft rubber with a supple bellows type structure which allows perfect sealing and a very high degree of comfort even after very prolonged use. The straps, face-seal and stiff body of the mask together means that the effort applied by the straps is distributed evenly. Enabling the user to achieve a perfect seal without having to tighten the straps excessively and uncomfortably.

Sizing

Faded areas represent less common face measurements. It is very likely that a mask will still fit comfortable even if measurements are located in fading areas.

Take measurements as show below and use the chart to find the correct size:

Fit and Seal Testing

Testing the fit and seal of your respirator is important. Every face and head is unique, and what may work on one person may not work on you. Because of this, it is crucial to inspect & leak test your SGE 400/3 mask prior to use.

To check that the seal on your mask is sound, you will need to perform a negative pressure test. To do this, cover the front filter port with your hand so that no air can flow though it to your mask and inhale.

If you feel immediate pressure on your face, and your mask sucks inward on your face like air out of a bag, your seal is perfect. If this doesn't happen and/or you feel air rush in from somewhere in the mask, you have a leak somewhere in your seal that needs to be remedied.

Seal leaks can be resolved by adjusting the placement on your face, tightening the head harness, and ensuring identifying hair/ facial hair is not breaking the seal line. If none of this works, you might have to change the size of your mask.

Quality

This is a better fitting mask than the one I used for HAZWOPER certification. The design of this mask means it seals with almost no effort, and has no problems sealing over my scraggly lockdown beard. Note: I'm a white dude with "wavy" facial hair of moderate thickness, so those with denser beards may be SOL. I've attached some images to show what this mask will seal over without any issues or special adjustment necessary.

This mask is easy to get on, off, and adjust. I am usually wary of any headwear marked M/L because I have a huge dome, even though overall head size is not factored into sizing selection for these. My XL size head is ~62cm in circumference with a facial width measurement of 6 inches and a facial length measurement of 4 inches. This places me right on the border of a colored square on the "will it fit" chart, but it's a glove. In fact I'm only using about half of the available sizing tabs on the straps, so others with even fatter noggins than me should have no issues with strap length.

The product description states 87% FOV, but it feels like much more. Only your peripheral vision at the left and right extremes of your sight are obscured. To directly impede your vision, you need to look so far to the side that you can feel the strain in your eyeballs. One of the best masks I've used in this regard. Notice that I still needed to cover my eye in the side profile picture.

This mask with its ultralight rubber seal means it's more comfortable to wear than…
