The hatchet is one of humanities oldest, and most useful tools. In fact primitive sharpened-rock hand axes were used by our ape-like ancestors before homo-sapiens ever walked the earth.

Today, a the hatchet remains an essential bushcraft and survival tool; a small piece of metal insurance promising shelter, fire, and a good night's sleep outdoors.

Apparently the Swiss government bought a warehouse full of these things and never used them. We just so happen to know a guy who bought that warehouse... and well, we thought we'd give them a try.

From what we can tell these hatchets are good to go with two minor exceptions:

  1. They come unsharpened for safety
  2. Once sharpened, they will need a axe sheath if you plan to carry one in your pack

We are actively looking for feedback on these. If you get some use out of your hatchet please leave a review or get in touch.

Fantastic!

One of the best axes I've ever owned. It goes through Australian hardwood with ease out of the box. I can't wait to have a proper edge put on it!

$300 hatchet for $20

Basically, you're getting a crazy high quality hatchet for the price of a Walmart hatchet. Swiss steel and forging that would cost probably around $2-300 if sold commercially. I like it lots

A quality tool.

If you’re in need of an axe, this is definitely not a bad choice.

pretty handy handling

a sweet little axe that was (admittedly) an impulse buy. but it's a great deal, unused, and weighted nicely. I'm no expert on axes, but if you need or want to have something around, I don't think you'll find a better deal.
