Designed for hot and humid environments and modeled after the US Pattern III Jungle Boots, these boots sport water draining vents on the lower portion and a mesh internal lining to allow venting and drying of the feet. A layered mesh insole also aids in keeping feet dry and trench-foot free. These boots are more flexible than your typical surplus boot, and feature both loop and hook eyelets to ensure your laces don't come undone when trudging through foliage. Finally, a hardened oil and gas proof outsole resists punctures in adverse terrain, while the angled treads reduce the likelihood of debris build-up.
Condition
These boots are in great condition for military surplus. Clean leather, strong treads and minor scratches or blemishes may be present, but overall these boots are still entirely functional and with a quick polish should look almost good as new.

Better than the original 1970’s jungle boots
I purchased the German jungle boots because the only high top boots that I’ve ever been able to stand were the original 1970’s jungle boots. After settling on a size that I thought corresponded to mine in centimeters, I submitted the order. I was careful to order a wide size which wasn’t an option in the 70’s. The wide size fit the ball of my foot better than the originals. The toe is still rather long but my foot won’t be slipping around in the boot as much as the old ones. It took me a minute to figure out the German eyelets in lacing the boot but they were okay. I think the tread is also a better design than the old ones which sucked up mud and the new ones aren’t as likely to do the same. The drainage holes are in the boot are less obvious than the originals and smaller but I won’t be any place very wet in Colorado.Like everyone else mentioned the boots are brand new.

Mine seem brand new
These are outstanding. I have a foot like a duck, between EE and EEE width in a 10.5, and these are plenty fine. They're flexible in the right places but without any slipping around the heel or anywhere from the rear of the ball of your foot forward. They still hug your ankle enough that you feel supported and secure.
A note on the mesh insoles, mine have a tendency to grip my sock and scrunch up in the toe of the boot as I put them on, so I have to sort of stage them on the bottom of my feet and slide them in with my foot. Also they can get pretty uncomfortable after 3-4 miles. That's my experience if you're not wearing socks with thick soles, walking on hard terrain, or I guess if you're as heavy as I am. I may look at replacing the insoles or just being sure to wear socks with particularly thick soles from now on. I don't fault the boots because they really do vent and dry easier than any other insoles I've ever seen.

Misleading Description and Photos from Ivan:
Yeah, big surprise there. Product page and pictures show these are "lightly used surplus boots," but that's not what I found in the box.
No, my boots were BRAND NEW. Real pleased with this purchase, always wanted a pair. Maybe your boots will be new, maybe they will be lightly used, but all the reviews I've seen show boots in stellar condition.
Ventilation is surprisingly good, which means I'm not going to get to use these through this cold winter but they'll be great during the other 3 damp seasons.
