Plates are an ultra-controversial part of the tactical gear world, with even the most popular options on the market failing spectacularly to meet people's expectations and more importantly, NIJ tests.
These are HighCom's Guardian 4S17s, a relatively heavy but robust NIJ 0101.06 compliant level IV standalone plate, Certified by the NIJ (can be found listed on the NIJ's Compliant Product List). In short, this means that the NIJ has tested and approved these plates themselves, without the massive conflicts of interest that "independent testing" typically has. In addition, it's DEA hard armor protocol compliant, rifle special threats validated, and has a long warranty period (this lot is in date until 2028).
Made with a ceramic strike face and composite backing, its incredibly difficult to go wrong with a pair of these at this incredibly competitive price. While the form factor (single curve) is a bit antiquated, it will provide far better protection than a mystery-meat Chinese made plate or many of the non NIJ-certified options on the market.
"Cut" Differences
We have three different 'cuts' available, the Shooter's, full, and side plates. Shooter's cut plates are the most common and will fit in a variety of low profile plate carriers on the market made for SAPI plates, such as the Crye JPC. The "full cut" does not include the shoulder cuts, and is made for older plate carriers. "Side plates" are for your plate carrier's cummerbund, which may already have a pocket for side plates or require plate pockets to mount.

Condition, Quality Control & Disclaimers
The general condition of the plates is that they've seen some use, but we ensured each plate is intact. Before shipping we test this by putting a slight amount of torque on each plate listen for cracks and crackling noise (thereby determining the plate has not been cracked inside of its covering). We cannot guarantee the ballistic protection factor of the plates as they are surplus, but their inspect-by date (and warranty period end) is 2028. We do not accept returns on this product.
