Scarcely seen in the 'states, Super C is a classic South African candy that appeals to our sweet tooth with unique flavors and easy packability.
Making it's debut in the late 70s, the original objective was to create a compact & convenient way to provide a quick boost of energy and provide Vitamin C. Included in many SANDF MREs, it acts as both a sweet morale boost & a vital source of easy energy between meals. The high glucose content means that unlike complex carbohydrates, your body can get to the energy quicker without extra water needed to metabolize it.
But besides it's survival purposes, it's definitely a unique treat — If you're familiar with Smarties candies, these are a similar but harder texture than those, with much stronger flavoring and a more grainy texture versus the powdery Smarties.
Flavors
We have four different flavors available, but we highly recommend you try them all.
Orange - Self explanatory. Citrusy sweet like a Fanta/Orange crush soda, or an Orange flavored freezie-pop. The most common flavor.
Mixed Berry - Raspberry with hints of blueberry, strawberry. Crunching down on it reveals a lot more flavor from the get-go.
Lemon Lime - A very similar taste to a 7-UP soda. More lime than lemon, as opposed to a Sprite, for example.
Granadilla - By far the strongest flavor. A tart but tropical explosion in your mouth. It's truly unique among the other flavors — we're almost 100% certain it's just another name for passion fruit, but you be the judge.
(NEW) Naartjie - Simply put, it's a tangerine flavor. A different type of citrusy tang with a sour but delightful aftertaste, a great choice if you already liked orange.
(NEW) Watermelon - A sugary watermelon taste, but not as sweet as some of the other super-C flavors. A good choice if you like super C but don't have as much of a sweet tooth.
