Swiss Leather Gaiter

If you love getting trench foot and having a gravel pit in your boots, keep scrolling. Gaiters are for those who despise getting snow, rain, or debris thrown into their boots. The Swiss Leather Gaiter is a comfortable, inexpensive option to keep all the aforementioned obstacles out of your boots.

While a perfect companion to the KS90 (which the gaiter was designed to pair with), it still works well with other boots thanks to its four-size adjustable buckle system.

Condition

  • Grade 1Gaiters will show minimal use and no abrasions.
  • Grade 2: Gaiters will show more use, minor stains, and few to no abrasions.

Specs

  • Authentic Swiss leather
  • Four-size adjustable buckle
  • Works perfectly with KS90s

Sizing

The Gaiters fit up to Size US 12's thanks to their four position buckles. We cannot guarantee they will fit boots any larger than a US 12.

Care Information

Like all leather items, light amounts of maintenance are recommended to keep the leather clean, shiny, and strong over time. A good example of a leather care kit is here. A general care process follows:

  1. Create a work environment with good circulation, spillage protection, a few clean rags, a soft bristle brush, and personal protective gear (such as gloves and goggles)
  2. Use a soft brush or cloth to clean off any dirt, grime, or "ambiguous" fluids
  3. Apply a leather cream/conditioner of your choice liberally, and gently rub into the surface (use a brush or clean rag to get into any crevices or nooks)
  4. Wipe in any excess with a clean rag, and then manually buff the surface until you are content with the shine
  5. Wipe on a thin layer of beeswax, or another shoe wax of your choice, as a waterproofer
  6. Flex on people who have unclean and unpolished gaiters

Bought on a whim, turned out to be a lifesaver.

I bought this product because I felt the boots I use for hiking and outdoor sports lacked proper ankle support, and I hoped some firm leather would improve them. However, my 100% pure-American beefcake calf muscles were far too swole to fit in the gaiters (not to brag but I am basically one leg-day way from going super-saiyan). I intended to return the gaiters, but forgot.

Just yesterday at a paintball game, the soles of my friend's boots ripped off. The mud at this location was so thick it can suck your shoes off; and roots, rocks, and brush can really trip you up. As luck would have it I had the gaiters in my car still, and my friend was able to use them with his regular shoes to continue playing, as he possesses the calves of a newborn-chick.

I asked him what he thought of them, and he said he thought they were great. He stated that they were comfortable and provided great support. I wasn't expecting to give these away as a gift, but in retrospect it seems serendipitous that I still had them on me.

Hellbent for leather

Got the grade 2. These seem pretty sturdy. I sensually massaged mine down with ren wax when I received them. Brought life and color back to the leather. Little black polish and they looked almost brand new. With any luck, they should last me many years.

Some wear and closure issues but still very attractive

Bought the "better shape" option for these, though it still had some pretty deep gashes and wear to the leather, as well as a good bit of rust around the metal facets. After I cleaned them and conditioned them, they still had the damage but they are indisputably handsome gaiters and match the KS90 design to perfection. I plan to use them as part of my motorcycle, hiking, and heavy weather gear, and I think they'll last a good while. Definitely recommend trying them on early just to understand the best way to get them closed, don't wait until you actually need them. (Photos are post-cleaning/conditioning.)
