A humble but necessary part of the East German load bearing system, complete with an embossed, powder-coated DDR buckle.
As a belt for your pants it's absolute overkill. A testament to the soviet way of doing things it's not lightweight or wieldy in any respect of the words but by god it will never let you down.
It's borderline ratchet-strap nylon will keep even the heaviest-loaded boomer cargo shorts as upheld as their guaranteed social security checks that the next generation will never know the taste of. It's buckle although commie-symbol-adorned can be easily hidden if you roll with your shirt untucked.
Alternatively, if you're a crazy person who ACTUALLY wants to use the belt for it's original purpose as a load bearing belt with the combat pack, It's an essential piece that really brings the whole thing together.
Sizing
To determine your belt size, measure the circumference of your waist. You'll want to choose a belt size that has a maximum size larger than your waist.

I bought this a few weeks ago and it came quickly (US to EU relatively). In a very good condition. It can be adjusted so do not panick if you’re a bit full of soup like me (best thing to do is to order the superiour waist size so that you just have to adjust it). As a DDRaboo myself, I can only recommend buying this beautiful piece of history that knows how to make itself useful !

HE IS FILLED WITH EAST GERMAN SOUP
Good used piece of gear. I have another one where there was a metal tab on the running end to keep it from fraying, maybe just a different manufacturer/year
Would buy again, thanks

Despite its age oddly enough the steel is the only part that shows it. There's dings and some dents but nothing major. However the fabric only has some frays but is otherwise looks to be in nearly unused shape.
