Need we say more than the Jacket from Top Gun?
Replacing the also iconic MA-1 jacket in 1972, The CWU-45P addressed the issue of the former bomber jackets' melting in the event of a cockpit fire with new state of the art Aramid, known for its thermal resistant & Fire-retardant properties.
Just like other famous bomber jackets & field jackets from the US Military, they took the fashion world by storm once surplus started appearing on store shelves (Tom Cruise wearing one probably also helped it gain fame quite a bit).
Looking cool is one thing, but the jacket is also technically impressive as well. Its shell repels water and wind, a knit waistband and wrist cuffs keeps your body heat in, and the quilted liner keeps you ultra-cozy. All that, and everything is FR. Additional features include the zippered shoulder "cigarette" pocket with loops for pens & pencils, a storm-flapped main zipper, roomy hook and loop hand pockets, and a 2" x 4.25" patch panel on the left breast.
Sizing & Fit
The CWU-45P does not have the typical length sizing that many US military garments do, but what we can say for sure is that the fit is a little shorter in length as many bomber jackets are. Notably, the chest & arms are "puffy" but it's best to stick with your normal US shirt size for best results. For reference our model is 6' with a 38" chest and wears a Medium.
