Do you love the DNC? We love the DNC. No, not that DNC, the ever ubiquitous Desert Night Camo. Its iconic ‘grid’ pattern was originally developed to defeat early generation Soviet night vision devices. Unfortunately by the time DNC was issued, night vision devices had progressed enough to make it mostly obsolete.
Despite it not being as effective as desert night camo (where it even performed worse than over-whites) its tendency to stand out is perfect for flexing on the flat range. Its drip is undeniable, from being great for the streets or the range. Its green grid pattern and splotches are unintentionally adept in a more forest-y biome compared to its desert origins.
Many make one critical mistake when buying these: not realizing the pockets are pass-through. They were originally intended to be worn as ‘overpants’ on top of BDUs, and feature pass-through velcro closures that allow for easy access to the front pockets and thigh pockets. Of course if you wear them without anything underneath, we know what you’re doing and we can’t stop you…
