This is the Austrian Gore-Tex Hardshell — Built for the harshest heights of the alps, and torrential downpour in the Jungle. This is the shell everyone at KommandoStore has in their trunk.

Designed and produced under contract by a high-end Austrian ski-wear company, This is about as nice as it gets short of an Arc'Teryx LEAF Alpha Jacket (but we'd be sued into the ground if we told you that this is nearly the same thing for nearly 90% off. Which it totally isn't. We'd never say that.) 

Featuring a PTFE Gore-Tex membrane, it keeps everything inside it perfectly dry for an extended period of time. Unlike a windproof jacket, the membrane doesn't "soak through" when it comes in contact with moisture of any kind, be it rain or snow (which the Austrians see quite a bit of). 

The tuckable hood is extra large to accommodate helmets, and features a tidy shock cord arrangement that doesn't dangle or get caught up & snag on all the rest of your gear. It also has a shock-cord adjustable crown for properly fitting to heads & helmets large and small.

The 'napoleon' chest pockets are extremely large, making it an EDC machine. Phone, wallet, keys, and also large enough to comfortably hold another piece of Austrian engineering without any majorly suspicious shapes bulging out.

  • Adjustable hood drawstrings held in place with loops right under the collar. No more drawstrings flying into your face
  • Some may have waterproof zippered underarm vents

Excellent: Minor to no wear marks, or blemishes may be present. No holes, tears, or fading.

Good: Wear-marks, and minor stains or signs of use present. Hook and Loop portions may be absent from parka. No holes, tears, or fading. May have professional repairs to seam tape present.

Better than expected

Got a good condition one, and aside from what would normally fray given use (zipper pulls are a little weak) it's damn good condition, needed a new waterproof coating.

To explain Gore-Tex, it's all on the inside of the outer layers, the outer layer will hold water if you don't add another waterproofing layer, but the waterproof layer under the fabric will keep anything under you dry. Used mine and didn't put painters tape over the metal buttons, oops, now there's a little lime green around them)

Added some black smudge dye to. Fits my Renegade Upper Goon (official rank) aesthetic.

Will run big, as it's a external part of a layering system, order your own size unless you're planning on wearing this as a mid layer for some damn reason.

Works well

I have used these extensively for hunting and other outdoor activities in the dead of winter in Fairbanks, Alaska. Pair these with a great base layer (or more when it gets down to -40) and you will warm on the inside, but looking cool on the outside

Awesome Parka

KommandoStore did a milsurp video rating countries’ gear by tiers. Austrian gear was placed at the top and this GoreTex parka proves KommandoStore correct. The adjustments, fitment, coloration, materials and attention to detail are outstanding. Can’t go wrong with this one.

Damn nice Jacket

Damn nice rain coat, Little heavier and does not pack down as small as my Berghause Gore-Tex but looks and feels much better. It's a kind of weird almost cotton or denim like fabric, not like regular waterproofs at all.

Keeps the wind out, keeps light / medium rain out, even keeps you warm on cool Autumn evenings. Assuming it still works in heavy rain, worth every penny.

6' 175 lbs (182 cm 72 kg if you're queer) Its a little long in the body but the arms are the right length, I'm a 32" waist, so it runs a little baggy, even with a mid layer but it looks like it fits me either way

Pretty Solid

I did what the old ad for the jackets does and stood in the shower to test to water resistance, it’s definitely still pretty good but these are still used items. Overall good condition, and all I could find was a small pin hole on one of the sleeves that soaked a teeny tiny bit of water but didn’t actually get through. Hella rad for rain and Austrian gear is very functional. Mine smelled like someone smoked 500 cigarettes while wearing it but I doubt they all have this problem. Light wear on the fabric itself so all in all worth the price.
