We were lucky to get our hands on this shipment; it's very rare for such a classic and widely distributed item to survive factory new for so long. All of these parkas are brand new and arrived in the original unopened factory bulk packaging.

About the M65

Almost immediately after being introduced during the Vietnam War, the M65 parka was cemented into the collective unconsciousness of the Western world. It is the military parka everyone and their mother knows. The design reigns king — like the AK47, the iPhone, and the McDonald's hamburger, some version of the M65 will be made until the end of time.

The Austrians have been making their virtually identical clone of the US M65 for some time now. In the past we've stocked their heavy cotton M65 — one of our all-time most popular products. This version is the generation after that, upgraded with modern synthetic waterproofing.

Sleek, sexy, and ready for rough stuff, it's a heavy jacket that'll shrug off whatever you (and nature) can throw at it. If you want a jacket you'll have for the rest of your life on this Earth and for the next three generations of your family, this is it.

Membrane

These parkas come in two membrane types: PTFE GPTFE Gore-Tex and Sympatex.

Goretex was invented in the 1970's by Robert and Wilbert Gore, a father and son scientist duo. They found when you quickly stretched a heated rod of  polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) it formed a breathable, light, waterproof membrane. After some experimentation they patented the fabric and years later it made its way into the liner of these jackets.

Not looking to be upstaged, German manufacturer Sympatex created their own line of waterproof fabric membrane. Made out of a "monolithic polymer" it breathes by absorption and evaporation. It's thinner and weighs less. We've noted no difference between the two in breathability or waterproofing, but Sympatex is made of recycled materials.

A jacket that screams “I HAVE A GUN”

Let’s start off with this, this is not really insulated. In winter time you’re gonna need thermals or another layer underneath it. It does provide some warmth, but not a whole lot. But the jacket itself? This thing fuckin rules. I’m 6’0 180lbs & I wanted a jacket that wouldn’t make me look fat. Trust me, I don’t wanna look fat again. I just lost 80lbs. That’s where the midsection drawstring comes into play, it works killer. It beads water off seamlessly (goretex edition), has some real sturdy stitching, and an overall good weight to it. It’s a quality product, you’re getting a lot of bang for your buck.

Hands-Down Nicest Jacket EVER

This is 100% without a doubt the nicest most quality jacket I've worn in my entire life. Comfort: Exquisite, Next-Level. Utility is massive with great pockets and Top-Tier Weather proofing. I personally prefer a heavier material, so I was apprehensive about the Sympatex but in all honesty the weight is comfortable and the material is noticeably durable despite the lightweight. It decimated wind, keeps you warm, and keeps you dry and comfortable. I mean come on, what more is there to say!? I'm genuinely considering buying another one even! Perfect jacket, snag one or you WILL be sorry! ÒwÓ

It's like a normal rain jacket but cheating.

So.... I got this a while back while waiting on my black gorka pre-order (still waiting Ivan). Now that Hurricane Ida has made landfall I've finally had a good chance to test it out. Results are in and survey says its a *insert your own sports euphemism*! Unlike Arnold, this jacket won't abandon it's principles and it will keep you safe and free.... from harsh outdoor elements. Do I recommend this product? Does Randy "Macho Man" Savage have the best Slim Jim commercials?

Fits in all the right places, with a little room for more.

The sizing for this item is not the same for a Flektarn Parka as you might think. I am 5'10'' / 195 lbs so after determining what this jacket would be used for I am glad to discover it is a tad on the larger size so sweaters or a plate carrier could fit underneath. Once you pull the mid waist band tight the jacket takes a bit more of a slim fit and looks very nice. I ordered the 96-100 / III-IV.
