FILBE, or Family of improved load bearing equipment, not to be confused with the USMC's ILBE, or Improved Load Bearing Equipment, which was the Marine Corp's response to MOLLE II, or Modular Lightweight Load Carrying Equipment II. Had enough acronyms? Well that's too bad.
As you might have noticed, the 'F' in FILBE stands for Family. To get ultra-specific about what we're selling, this is the Main pack of the USMC Pack System —A frame, shoulder harness assembly, a hip belt, and the main bag. It's absolutely slathered with PALS webbing so you can attach more of the USMC Pack System or your own pouches to expand and organize it's storage.
Our FILBE Packs will arrive at your doorstep unassembled so you can fit the frame and harness to your body the best.
You can view a great guide on how to assemble the pack here.
The Frame
The frame is a high strength, fracture resistant polymer that's pretty lightweight. In conjunction with the hip belt and shoulder harness it helps distribute the packs load equally to the hips and shoulders, reducing felt weight. It's also shaped to be compatible with nearly any plate carrier (although configurations with integrated packs/bladder pouches may be a tighter fit).
Shoulder Harness & Hip Belt
The padded shoulder harness is adjustable up and down the frame to accommodate different torso lengths, and "load lifter" straps pull the load carried in closer to the user's body. In addition, quick release buckles allow the user to quickly remove the pack (once you unbuckle the sternum & hip belt) with a quick pull in emergencies.
The hip belt has thick padding and transfers most of the load to the user's hips, reducing the burden on your shoulders and upper spine.
The Main Bag
The 82 Liter bag has two main compartments, separated by a "shelf", which can be converted into a single large compartment. The top of the bag cinches down with a cord locked pull, and features an extra waterproof collar to better seal the contents inside from rain, and is able to be independently cinched shut. A lid covers the top of the main bag, which features more PALS webbing, a pocket, and loop name tape field. Each side features a sleeve which can retain larger items like skis, firearms, and it's original hilarious purpose, a Mortar. Below the sleeves is a stretchable pocket which aids the retention of the aforementioned items, or can be used for canteens. Finally, the bag features compression straps, and a robust handle on top.
Versatile, bomb proof, Marine proof — It's no secret this bag is seriously one of the best military packs money can buy.
