The Pattern 83 Chest rig, even 40 years later, is almost perfect. Almost. It might be hard to imagine but the chest rigs weren't always designed to accommodate American sized individuals. But everyone from lean, marathon-rucking machines to bulky chads should be able to enjoy pattern 83 type rigs.
So what's the solution? make it bigger. The shoulders have plenty of room for most individuals but it's downfall has always been that pesky, non-removable back strap. With our extender strap, you can expand the range of adjustment an additional six inches. that's like adding an extra three pant sizes. And thanks to the ultra-durable ITW Nexus hardware, it'll be just as strong as the sewn-in back strap always was.
So what if you're not a big guy? this could still potentially be for you. We see a lot of people running P84 and P83 over the top of plate carriers and can't argue with that, but all that extra bulk from plates and other gear can make the rig unwearable. The extender strap solves that problem and easily allows you to run the rig over plate carriers, soft armor, and heavier clothing.
