My application for this item is for innawoods, but it's for ops directed at 4-legged, instead of 2-legged prey. I'm using this for bowhunting in the winter here in [a mid-Atlantic state], hunting from a tree saddle. For its warming insulation, it probably would need more supplementation for places like MN, but for here, with layering underneath, this kept me comfortable in freezing (but not subzero) temperatures. It did great for the two hunts I've had in it so far, which both featured steady 20 mph winds.
FEATURES: This Anorak closes by two side zippers that extend from the armpit to the waist. I really like this closure method for two reasons:
1. It solves the kangaroo pocket problem. A central kangaroo pocket is really useful for keeping both hands warm when waiting for a deer without the need to wear gloves. A vertical, frontal zipper divides a kangaoo pocket into 2 slash pockets, which lose that heat bubble efficiency. Some other garments use a diagonal zipper that is awkward, just to save the pocket, but this system is better.
2. If you are wearing some kind of gear belt, the anorak can be zipped down just far enough to not interfere with that gear. I hunt out of a tree saddle with pouches attached, and a longer coat could potentially interfere with access to pouches and attachment points on the saddle belt. Not so with this anorak, because it can be zipped down just far enough to be closed over my torso, without encumbering access to those utilities.
