Thought it was an American M1 helmet based on the picture? We don't blame you.
The US M1 helmet was potentially the most iconic of the 20th century, a claim backed by dozens of countries either using it themselves at the time or domestically producing identical clones. During the M75’s creation in 1957, Austria was going through a somewhat rebellious phase and chose to design its own helmet based off the M1 instead of doing the popular thing and making another copy. Updating the original M1 design with a heavily improved suspension system, liner, and a slimmed-down external profile, the Austrians were well on their way to the Helmet Hall of Fame. And they made it — the M75 helmet was used in service for decades with collectors around the world still hunting for one of their own.
That hunt is over. M75s are now available here at KommandoStore.
Condition
For the helmet enthusiasts out there, these helmets are mostly of the rear-seam, brass buckle, double-snap variety. This makes it closer to a Vietnam-era configured helm as opposed to the WW2 / Korean War variants.
