If there’s one thing the British are good at, it’s using outdated equipment (and forms dental care). So, after close to 32 years of using pre-shrunk canvas webbing that was essentially the same webbing they used for two World Wars, they finally decided to upgrade. The 1958 webbing was almost as old as the Queen for crying out loud. They replaced it with the PLCE system which included their own rather British take on the tried and true assault vest.

The Personal Load Carrying Equipment or PLCE was leaps and bounds ahead of the older 1958 webbing. Featuring double layer IRR treated, 1000D Cordura along with more modern buckle, velcro and press stud fasteners. The assault vest was designed for carrying essential items on a more secure platform that works over body armor compared to the original webbing system.

The vest appears to taken a few notes from P83 Battle Jackets & the like with a uniquely British flavor. The left hand side of the vest consists of 2 triple magazine pouches, a small GP Pouch and a large GP Pouch. The right hand side of the vest features 3 large utility pouches along with a small utility pouch. All the GP pouches feature storm seals to help prevent water ingress. Additionally napoleon style zippered notebook pouches round out the impressive storage capacity of this vest.

Produced at a time when the US was still using ALICE, this Velcro and fastener adjustable vest was one of the last of it's kind in the hard-sewn "battle jacket" like concept.

Great option for your LARP or hiking

I love this vest. It's great for deployment to the flat range or hiking. The main admin pouch fits a jet boil and food on the other side admin pocket. Add a small camel back bag and you're set for a day hike or an overnight with a group .
