Horticulture perspective
So I bought two of these because I am a landscaper. I've frequently thought about how convenient it would be to have a hand sickle of some sort for deadheadding various plants, and lo and behold, I come across these when buying some surp.
Although this was not exactly the intended purpose of the item, this is the perspective in which I am doing the review.
Positives first:
The blade itself is light, well shaped to preform horticulture related tasks (it deadheads daisies like nobodies business) and incredibly easy to access. The twist style locking mechanism is incredibly convenient. I am never in urgent situations, and the force I use with the blade is rarely more than like 10 pounds of pressure, so I never have to worry about the lock failing.
Cons:
The blade itself is incredibly flimsy. I do not know what kind of metal it is constructed from, but it feels like I could bend it with minimal force. In addition to the thin and flexible blade, the edge itself is quite poor. Out of the box, I could hardly cut gardening twine without great effort. On occasion, instead of cutting the stem of a plant, it will just tear it out of the ground.
This blade is pretty neat, all things considered. I use it when I can, but it struggles to hold up to some stronger plants, which is disappointing.

Got my order the other day. Sweet! Got a pair because 2 is better than one. Well made. Appears to be unissued. Very sharp! I plan to keep one in the car and one to open boxes at home. Very pleased! Will definitely be a repeat customer.
