All great commando sweaters trace themselves down to this style. Since the cold war, commandos in several countries have been rocking their sweaters but the Bundesmarine hold the title for our favorite. It's dark navy blue makes for a refined look, and it doesn't sacrifice on function like many of the fashion industry's copies.
It features hook and loop epaulets, a breast pocket for pens and small notebooks, elastic cuffs around the wrists and waist, and padding at the shoulders and elbows.

German Bundesmarine Dark Blue Sweater
Wasn't sure on the sizing, so I went with a DE 52. I wear a large or XL depending on the shirt, and this fits perfectly, though it is a bit long. I'm also going to hit it with a lint shaver to knock some of the fuzzies down, other than that, it's perfect.
I was worried that this might have blemishes, moth holes, or hard-wear marks, but it came in in perfectly serviceable condition! The sweater itself, is still very blue, and the flag patches are not faded, either. Both are still very vibrant.
With winter creeping up on south Texas, I will be ready for the cooler days for sure.
I’ve worn it once and got multiple compliments from coworkers. It fits perfectly and is very warm, just maybe wear a long sleeve tee underneath to prevent any itchiness.
Great addition to my quickly growing German gear pile. Warm, comfortable, and utilitarian. Fits great, keeps the northern chill away.
Now I can go do war cri- uh, field research. And if need be, blame another country.
