KSGI Reversible DNC/DCU Parka
I purchased the KSGI Reversable DNC/DCU Parka because, as a Retiree (32 years) it reminded me of the “Chocolate Chip and NVG” Jackets that we were issued during Desert Storm. It was a new twist since, it had the “Pinks” we were issued for Iraq in 2003.
My old Gore-Tex Jacket was getting won and I thought that I’d give this a try.
After Action Review (AAR)
Three Improves
First off: COST, it’s too expensive (220.00) to do any destructive testing. So, The Performance/Durability Section…I cant fill out. If you want to send me one to test, Check and RGR.
Second: The fabric seems light and I am not sure how “waterproof/resistant” that it may be, long term. That testing would require long term testing. I’ll leave it as a “More To Follow (MTF)”.
Third: Gore-Tex is not K-Tex. If you know, you know. I thought it might be similar, it’s not. Gore-Tex is a “breathable material” and K-Tex is a Vinyl Coated Polyester Fabric, normally used for tarping material. The feel is NOT (contrary to Skyler C) the same. The originals were made of a 50/50 blend of Cotton and Polyester, nor does the original jacket look the same. I inclosed a picture of the original. You'll see.
Sustains:
One: it SEEMS like the fabric is light, not too hot as an over jacket. It is not stiff, like the original Gore-Tex Jackets could be but this is a different material. It is a Vinyl Coated Poly so, the wind and water resistance should be there…but will you be a sweaty mess underneath?
I was told to wear “Rain Gear”…
