Explore The Rig

In The Field

We worked hard to preserve the spirit of originals from photos and direct physical references

Early Afghanistan

Supply-It-Yourself

Homemade & unit-comissioned kit for the US special forces had it's last big moments during the dawn hours of the hunt for Bin Laden - the original rig (or rigs, as there were several variants) was made with nonstandard woodland cordura nylon & certainly looked different than many of the chest rigs that had been issued up to that point.

A Truckload of Storage

Pouches On Pouches

The rig features an almost unusually wide footprint, wrapping around most of the user's body - this was needed for the sheer amount of storage desired for 6 STANAG magazines, extra pistol mags, radios, and large GP pouches

Wide Load

Harness & More

The harness was a simple "X" design that had made itself popular since the 80s and was low bulk for throwing on over the commonly used soft armor from "Point Blank" and others of the time. The rig also featured loops for a pistol belt to be integrated below it like other rigs of the 80s and 90s although we haven't seen pictures of that in use extensively.

Down to the Details

We went the extra mile to make the SF vest perform just as if the original rolled off the factory line yesterday.

Bonus Features

Quality Guaranteed

"Commercial" Woodland 787

NATO/STANAG Magazines

As it's originally designed, AR-15/STANAG magazines will fit perfectly & comfortably double stacked, with PMAGs maybe needing some time to "break in" the pouch due to their slightly larger profile.

Double-Stack Pistol magazines

The rig was also designed to carry standard-sized Double Stack Pistol magazines in front of the double-STANAG pouches. Fits magazines from various platforms such as the Glock family, Beretta M9, and countless others. You probably won't be able to run "stick" mags in this portion of the rig.

"General Issue" Classics & Timeless Homages

KSGI is made for fans of NATO kit that just keeps working, whether you're snuffing out insurgencies in caves or playing war in the sandbox...

It's not the gear that makes the operator, it's the stories of those operators that makes the gear legendary.

Truly one size fits all

I've always had trouble finding gear that fits well. When I saw the ad they play with 2 normal sized guys in it at the same time I thought it was too good to be true. At 6'6 370 finding anything that fits is kind of hard. This thing is able to fit someone quite a bit larger than myself.

I may return to leave a review on build quality, but it seems pretty well put together. I'll have more info on that after a few drills and competitions, but for the time being 0 complaints from me.

Good vest

I mostly larp around my home, and very new to airsoft, so I don't have the best experience to review this piece of kit, so take what I say with a grain of salt.

Firstly, to talk about what I like, it's a very simple rig to use. Not as many pockets and pouches to remember as my battle jacket, and very simple to adjust for fit. I am a sucker for woodland camo, and the version used for this vest matches well with my other camo. The ability to add a belt is very nice, and it can hold a decent bit of equipment.

As for my problems with the kit, the flaps to secure mags are far too long out the box. maybe it gets better when also rocking pistol mags in combination with rifle ones, but considering I don't use a pistol, I have no way of knowing for myself. I also feel that the mag pouches are a smidge too tight. The elastic band and wall of the pouch tend to get in the way of inserting new mags, which has led to me having to insert mags from the rear (not sure if I'm getting across the idea too well, but I'm horrible with words). Lastly, at times the cross harness can get a bit uncomfortable, but the discomfort usually goes away a bit after donning the vest.

Despite the few negatives I've described above, I still like this rig. With a pair of scissors and some extra time practicing with it I feel like I can work through some of my problems with it. I think I still prefer my pat 83 battle jacket, but this vest certainly fits my environment better. Overall I'd say it's a pretty…

Good Rig Overall

I haven’t had a chance to take this out to the field and really test it, but it seems to be well made and can hold a lot of equipment.

When doing releases of equipment like this you can keep the look, just upgraded the features for modern day. For example add sewn Velcro to webbing to secure extra webbing. I bought a roll to do this myself but it would be nice to be included.

Try and make sure that this rig can be universal and work well with other magazines, i.e. can the flaps secure AK magazines too.

Pros:

- it’s large and holds a lot of gear

- Like the color

- Large range of adjustment

- Radio pouches large enough for Baofeng AR-152, and possibly a pullout med tray. I also like the grommets added to the top of the radio pouch for the antenna and power/volume knob to stick out the top.

Cons:

- Mag pouches are large enough to fit AK mags but flaps are not long enough to engage enough Velcro to secure them. They may work with .308 mags, but haven't tested that.

- Canteen pouches are not large enough to fit canteen with canteen cup. This should have been addressed in the design phase.

- There can be a lot of dangling webbing, should have included sewn in Velcro on the webbing to secure the loose ends when not being used.

I am not hating on this, I like it, just offering suggestions on making this or future products better.

Overall I am pleased with this rig!

Best one yet!

Plenty of room for mags, little dodads, and other LARP necessities. Adjustable for any layer needed and adjusts easily but stays where you put it. 10/10

Where was this when I was in the 82nd?!

I served in the ALICE era with both LBEs and LBVs- and used both down range. This would have been perfect for those deployments. Much more comfortable when carrying a large ALICE pack heavily loaded with coms gear of the era. And- canteens. How has the Army forgotten how useful a plain old 1 QT canteen is? But now you can carry two- just like with the LBE and LBV. And oddly- those canteen pouches makes the rig very comfortable. The weight of the canteens balances the weight weight of six loaded USGI mags on the front of the rig- it's just more comfortable than other chest rigs I've owned and used. But I still don't understand why it has loops for a belt.
