Wake up call

A lot of what you find in this book is intuitive, but you may underestimate the importance of any of several concepts that are broken down for you here, had you not bought and read the book. I haven’t even finished it, but I can say it’s immediately made my brain go “back to the lab,” regarding any illusion that I had an idea what to expect from the daunting idea of the real thing. If SHTF scenarios is something you can’t help but worry about for yourself and your family, you should really buy the book. It’s a good way to get your people engaged and literally “on the same page.”

Queen of Battle, Follow Me!

Red Beard Tactical follows in the footsteps of established infantry doctrine, drawing heavily from manuals like FM 7-8 and FM 3-21.8. These are the fundamentals—the backbone that everything else builds from. Everyone wants to jump straight to Ranger, SEAL, or Delta-level tactics, but those all rest on the same core principles laid out here.

What this book does well is distill those fundamentals into clear, concise guidance supported by clean, full-color visuals. It’s not trying to reinvent doctrine—it’s making it more accessible and easier to retain.

It’s not as detailed as full doctrine manuals, but that’s more of a feature than a drawback. Those manuals are comprehensive for a reason, but they’re not always practical for quick reference. This guide trims the excess and focuses on what you actually need to remember and apply.

From my perspective as a former light infantryman with the 10th Mountain Division and 101st Airborne Division, this would have been a solid addition to my kit. I carried the 7-8 and the Ranger Handbook regularly, and while those are essential, they aren’t always the quickest tools for review in the field.

This book would have saved space while still providing a reliable quick-reference and even a useful tool for quizzing and reinforcing knowledge with soldiers.

Overall, it’s a practical, well-executed guide that reinforces the fundamentals without overcomplicating them—exactly what most units actually need.

High Quality Book

Pages are made of a thick paper and full of color. Each page is also full of useful information and not much filler fluff. Would recommend.
