A closely guarded secret since the 1970s, the existence of the F-117 Nighthawk was first acknowledged in a 1988 Pentagon press conference. Assistant Defense Secretary J. Daniel Howard released a single grainy photograph of the aircraft.
This press release notably relaxed the secrecy surrounding the Nighthawk program, but it would be another two years until it was truly revealed to the public. On April 21, 1990 a flight of two F-117s landed in broad daylight and parked on the tarmac of Nellis Air Force Base. The “Stealth Unveiled” event drew tens of thousands of visitors, allowing unprecedented up-close access to the jet.
Due to popular demand, we have faithfully reproduced the "Stealth Unveiled" commemorative apparel which accompanied the original event.
Sizing
For the best possible fit, check your measurements against the sizing table provided. Specifically, make sure your chest measurement matches the size ordered. Your bomber size may be different than your tee size!
Construction
Our bombers are handmade from quality, lasting components.
Soft 100% polyester satin with a dense, durable weave forms the outer body of the jacket. The nighthawk design is printed via ink sublimation for a direct and permanent bond — no cracks or rubbing-off over time.
For comfort and versatility, we chose a black, organic cotton liner, making the bomber a comfortable three-season jacket (if you layer during winter).
The ribbed collar, cuffs, and skirt are of high quality acrylic knit designed to resist wear, stretching, and shrinking. We sprung for quality here because there's nothing worse than cheap, scratchy acrylic on your neck all day.
Last but not least, the metal snaps will last the life of the jacket. It's a small thing, but it really matters.
Additional Design Notes
Those with keen eyes may notice that the tee and bomber are not colored identically. This is an intentional decision made to better match the original prints.
