Our Vest and what it includes (foam inserts for the soft armor pockets) alone provides no protection - It is for Airsoft/Milsim use only.
If you have original FORT hard plates and soft armor, they may fit but double check sizing with our measurements below.
It's not intended to carry western-spec armor, but we've provided measurements and reccommendations.
Soft armor pockets
- Front Plate Bag: 18" x 22"
- Rear plate bag: 18" x 15"
BALCS soft armor
- Roughly fits a "Small" size BALCS soft armor insert (double check measurements)
SAPI Plates
- Can fit medium (9.5x12.5), Large (10.75x13.25) and extra large (11x14) SAPI cut plates.
- The same sizing range can be applied to "full cut" plates as well.
- "Plate carrier" plates like all of the above have to be put in the soft armor pocket in order for them to work, the Defender 2 is designed for its original "Split" plates.
The plates may slide around a little. we generally won't recommend doing this, but it's possible.
Hard Armor Pockets
Our defender 2, as mentioned above, does not take conventionally shaped hard armor, rather a "Split" design.
Typically, original plates were thin and made of steel, and they do in fact fit our carrier without issue. But if you want to go aftermarket, a few pointers:
- We don't suggest modifying existing plates to fit as this will compromise their protection.
- If you want to purchase new hard armor inserts, thicker ceramic options on the market may not fit!
