Microwaved rice and it's consequences have been a disaster to kitchens everywhere. They have greatly increased the rice-expectancy of those of us who live in "grain filled" countries, but they have destabilized cooking, have made meals less flavorful, have subjected rice cookers to indignities, have lead to widespread blandness, and have inflicted severe damage on people's taste buds.
