West German OD Green Bundeswehr Belt

No longer do you have to wear the symbol of filthy East German commies on your Germanic load bearing belt.

We’ve stocked the classic East German load bearing belt for what feels like forever, and now we’ve gotten our hands on its western brother, Issued from 1965 to 1990. A lot of the same, but being that it's not from filthy soviets, it's a bit different and arguably better. Regardless, these belts are incredibly tough.

Thick, dense webbing is what puts the “load bearing” in this belt. They picked the webbing specifically so it wouldn’t flex widthway as much when gear was suspended from it for a very stiff support structure. At a hefty 2” wide, they might not fit all pants but most military-inspired bottoms accommodate thicker belts like these. The hardware is all metal, and the buckle is painted green but might be worn down to it’s brass depending on condition. Pretty good looking either way, and unwaveringly functional all at once.

Specs

  • Durable, Stiff 1.9” load-bearing canvas webbing
  • Metal hardware, Painted Brass buckle
  • Simple & secure Adjustment Buckle (see notes)
  • Fits in most surplus combat pants (as well as a majority of short and jean belt loops

Notes

  • The adjustment is a little finnicky. To flip open the adjustment clip, we suggest bending the belt lengthways to jack it open, otherwise it can be a little difficult at first.

Sizing

  • Sizing denotes the maximum waist size the belt can accommodate. If you're in doubt, or between sizes, consider sizing up.

Condition

  • Issued Belts are overall in good condition - the wear on the buckle that might be present is superficial and will likely vary from belt to belt. Color ranges from OD Green, to Bronze when finish fades. A small amount of corrosion may be present on the buckle. This can easily be removed with a brillo pad, or sponge.
  • Unissued Belts are in factory new condition, in factory original boxes.

Quality matches the size

Is a very good basic belt. It will do the job, no nonsense, and I think it might outlive me. It's very wide, it doesn't fits belt loops less than 6-7cm, maybe 5cm. So have that in mind. Great belt for when outdoors and don't want to torture your nice leather belt.

Solid belt

I bought the belt not too long ago to have a rival to its East German counterpart which I also own. It's a little big for my regular jeans, but thats warned of and expected so im not upset about that. The size adjustment took me awhile to figure out but i eventually figured it out. Overall a 9/10 piece of gear. Personally i prefer the east german version

New home in PT

When I bought the belt initially I had the usage idea of it becoming my daily driver belt as leather belts for me while nice, get used up somewhat quickly. However, when it arrived it was almost the right size but alas it was a bit small. However, I now found a use for it stretching my muscles after a workout. Overall very solid construction and a great addition to have!

OD's nuts

-1 for not having a cool stamped emblem on the buckle
