Above the countless off the shelf bubble-pack walkie talkies & baofeng HAM radios, there's a way to step up your game, and still do it on the cheap. This is a noise reducing push to talk for the Motorola XTS family of radios, which opens up a lot of options for durable, programmable radios that will make your baofeng feel like a toy in comparison.
Motorola is currently the gold standard for digital & encrypted radios, and has an enormous swathe of accessories to match. These push to talks (PTTs) are "trucker" styled coiled cable handsets that can transmit voice and relay audio like a speaker & mic in one.
A 3.5mm headphone jack allows the user to connect to budget off the shelf earpro such as Walker Razors, or howard leights for a great budget-comms option without the use of an expensive NATO-downlead headset. Audio will be delivered to your headset, and voice will be received through the PTT.
This push to talk uses A proprietary Motorola connector which is common on many Military and Police-issued radios and has aftermarket adapters available.
