Prominently featured in Terminator 2, the MSA Phalanx was designed specifically for riot control and correctional use. With a compact design suitable for use with visored helmets, the Phalanx was one of the first successful low profile gas masks.
Replaced fairly quickly in the early 2000s, the Phalanx is now valued among collectors for it's rarity and nostalgic appeal.
NIOSH-approved for resistance against several compounds and riot gases, the mask is also distinct in its ambidextrous dual-canister mount, allowing the single required filter to be fit onto either side of the face. As it was intended for use with a rifle, this let officer’s choose which shoulder they wanted to keep free. The Phalanx also includes a standard Hycar Rubber® Ultravue facepiece with a coated polycarbonate lens, nosecup ventilation to prevent fogging, and a speaking diaphragm compatible with other MSA comms systems and voice amplifiers.
This mask was not designed for NATO 40mm filters, only accommodating MSA Phalanx filters. Please see our Gas Mask Care Guide for further instructions both before and after use.

Condition
All masks are used, but in great functional condition. light damage and scuffs from warehouse storage such as dust, dirt and scuffs from storage. We believe they were purchased by and issued to local police forces but were never used outside of mandatory training exercises. The use would have been gas chamber training at most. There are no signs of residue from riot control or crowd suppression gas so the visors are not yellowed. The rubber is moist and full of life. You should expect these masks to have at most writing in or on them indicating who they were issued to.
