Finding Your Size
We recommend that you measure your waist with a tailor's tape for the best possible fit. If you are close to one size, or are otherwise uncertain, open up a chat with us and we'll walk you through sizing.

First Match Your Waist Circumference

AUS SIZE METRIC WAIST IMPERIAL WAIST SIZE COMPARISON
88-92 72-80 cm 28.3-31.5 in Small
96-100 80-88 cm 31.5-34.6 in Medium
104-108 88-98 cm 34.6-38.5 in Large
112-116 98-108 cm 38.5-42.5 in XL
120-124 108-116 cm 42.5-45.6 in 2XL

Then Match Your Height/Inseam

AUS SIZE METRIC HEIGHT/INSEAM IMPERIAL HEIGHT/INSEAM SIZE COMPARISON
I-II 163-171 / 75 cm 64.2-67.3 in / 29.5 in Short
III-IV 171-179 / 80 cm 67.3-70.4 in / 31.5 in Regular
V-VI 179-187 / 85 cm 70.4-73.6 in / 33.5 in Long
VII-VIII 187-195 / 90 cm 73.6-76.8 in / 35.4 in Extra Long

Lets face it — when it comes to wind and water resistance, Gore-Tex is the good stuff. It doesn't come around often and we have limited stock of it.

We're not talking about your typical surplus pants, Think more like Arc'Teryx LEAF but about 90% off. We love Austrian surplus; especially when they make it with Gore-TexAnd it's not hard to see why.

The Austrian Bundesheer has famously high standards for their gear. In the punishing climate of the Alps, they need some of the best damn clothing in the world to adapt to it's conditions. Wet or windy, these pants can take it.

The Gore-Tex pants have zippers going down the entire side seam to expand and contract if you're layering a lot of gear or need to don the pants without taking your boots off. Additionally, the zipper allows for pass-through near the top to get at underlayer pockets. They also feature integrated adjustable suspenders, a drawstring waist, an interior zippered mesh pocket, zippered fly,  and everything has a storm flap to keep every molecule of air and water possible out of your pants.

Generation

We've sorted the Alpine Hardshell pants by generation:

The "Old Gen" uses SympaTex and has a smoother outershell, reminiscent of heavier commercial snow pants (without the weight of course). Color wise they're very close to the M65 Waterproof Parka.

The "New Gen" uses Gore-Tex and has a sturdy outershell. Color wise it's very close to the Austrian Alpine Hardshell Parka.

Specs

  • Outer Shell: 100% Polyamide

  • Inner Lining: 100% Polyamid

Good for hunting

These bib pants are very quiet and the fit is trim. Sometimes rain pants are baggy and make noise from the legs rubbing together while walking. These don’t and the fabric is soft and quiet. Only odd thing is while there are full-length zippers, instead of the legs zipping apart for ease of getting a booted foot through the legs have a fabric gusset. So if you put these on with muddy boots mud will get on the inside and therefore on your pants. Overall these make great hunting rain pants. Durable, inexpensive, and quiet

Great piece of gear.

Infinitely better than what I was issued in the USMC, keeps water out even when sitting in a puddle and doesn't crunch like a bag of chips. I'm 5'8 but I have long torso so I could've gone with 1-2 length instead of 3-4, I prefer a higher cuff.

Perfect fit by the sizing chart.

I’ll use them for back country skiing.

Handy back pocket for phone or snacks.

Old Gen Sympatex: Excellent Quality and Like-New

I ordered the old gen sympatex variant in 104-108 but recieved one that was really an 88-92, mismarked on the factory tag,n so wasn't able to give it a proper testrun. (The guys at kommando store were quick to respond and gave me a gift card with store credit for the full price of the pants.) That said, the pants looked brand-new and the waterproofing still worked fine as far as I could tell. The Sympatex is a different membrane that offers similar performance to Gore-Tex without the drawbacks of PFTE chemicals.

The color on the old-gen perfectly matches that on the Austrian Anzug 75 Waterproof field jacket and when wearing both, provides the user with total rain protection.

The material is very high-quality and durable, and the pants are roomy enough for you to add insulating layers underneath. The 88-92 I recieved was *almost* big enough for my US size 36 carcass to fit in, so going 1 size down should be fine if you're not planning on layering underneath beyond longjohns. They're unlined and provide about as much warmth as a good pair of blue jeans.

10/10 would recommend these
