As Described
Wellenbrecher is a grey-dominant tropentarn. The typical hues are either a more neutral grey or a slight tinge of blue. We've taken a photo showing the variations that come out of our dye process — note that no two dyed examples will be the same.
Well·en·brech·er from the German wellen “wave” and brecher “breaker.”
Each Wellenbrecher starts life as a German desert camouflage field shirt. Similar in cut and overall design to their Flecktarn cousins, these Tropentarn shirts incorporate large armpit vents, and a lightweight, three-color fabric.
Wellenbrecher's unique coloration results from a special dying process applied to each Tropentarn donor shirt. Unlike standard "over-dying," we use a reactive dye which only binds to cotton fibers. This leaves all nylon undyed from the arm vents and hook/loop to the nylon fibers in the body of the shirt itself.
Wellenbrecher's slightly iridescent blue-gray appearance is color fast and will not leach or fade. Post dying, your shirt is clear of residual chemicals and entirely clean, ready to wear.
This field shirt can be worn in two different configurations. For a standard "shirt" cut, we suggest ordering your Gr. size as shown in the sizing chart. For a "jacket"-like fit, go up one height bracket in the sizing chart while keeping your chest size true to measurement.

Color Bias
The color of the tan in the Tropentarn affects the dye result. Not all Tropentarn jackets are the same. There is roughly a 10% difference in color ranging from light khaki to a more yellow sand. This base color affects the Wellenbrecher dye result. You can compare the photos below to get an idea of what to expect. We can make no promises as to the hue you will receive.
Condition
We have sorted all our donor jackets carefully. Expect a clean, quality product with no damage.

On a quick and easy budget item. this was great for my Monolith costume for Halloween. Its light, summer attire. Not great for the winter, but not half bad. Overall praise be for the monolith, I love this cozy jacket
