The top holder is great
I liked running my sling through the top holder. Did not screw with my aiming and my gun fits better on me.

Whether you know it from the XM177, Colt Commando, That one rifle from Blood Diamond, or you're a diehard Delta Force cloner, the Colt Automatic Rifle or CAR stock is legendary for its simplicity & ruggedness.
These are essentially retro-reproductions made by B5 Systems, who carefully cloned the 3rd generation collapsible stock known as the N1 fiberlite CAR-15 stock. It features a simple profile and a notably better look than the unsightly M4 "Waffle" stock.
With such a slender profile, the stock is extremely light. At 4.2 ounces, it's half the weight of a Magpul CTR. Its certainly a lot more minimalist, but losing out on some minor features is a fair trade for the weight - You can even add a QD with some aftermarket options.
So what about durability? Surprisingly, for a retro-repro, It goes above and beyond in terms of its construction — we use them on our own rifles, and have stood up to drops, mortaring, and a whole host of other ridiculous abuse.
If the aggressive checkering on the back of the stock isn't for you, you could always go full Delta clone and put a buttpad on the back with a ziptie, too (you'll have to dig for one of these, they're hard to find).
At the end of the day, if you're someone who doesn't aggressively cheek weld, likes their fighting rifle light and maneuverable, or just wants something unga bunga durable, look no further than B5's best. It's even in ranger-green-matching OD.
