Please note: we provide images showing a couple different examples of Shemagh patterns  - there may be variation in color between the Shemagh shown with the Shemagh received.

Every once in a while, despite Great Britain's best efforts, they actually adopt something from one of their many former colonies that they didn’t outright steal and put in a museum. Unfortunately they haven’t adopted dental care.

In this case, it's a remarkably simple yet effective head covering known as the Shemagh (shuh·maag). Variations of the Shemagh were adopted by the British as far back as World War II, with the main users being the famed Long Range Desert Group. The Shemagh protected against prolonged sun, wind, and dust exposure while they conducted hit and run raids against the Axis.

Its effectiveness was so successful that the British army eventually started issuing them to their general infantry which was a Godsend to any troops deployed to the Middle East. It's good for basking in Kabul or taking out on your local hiking trails. The uses for the Shemagh are practically endless but we have some shown in our photos.

Pair with one of our Afghan Pakol Mountain Cap, grab your AKM, and terrify some fudds at your local range. Bonus if you yell in Pashto. For the lols.

Fantastic piece of gear

Bought this as a substitute for a balaclava because I hate the feeling of the cloth getting wet in front of my nose and this more than delivered.

Wore it up in the mountains when it got cold during a hunting trip and it is both warm and comfortable, planning on wearing it in the summer to keep the sun off.

Keeps in the heat!

I've used the shemagh now alongside my ddpm smock, with the shemagh wrapped around my neck it keeps in the warmth when it's windy. Also it smells like old lady perfume, don't know whats up with that. Perhaps Mrs.Doubtfire works in the warehouse. Times are tough and inflation is a foot, I wouldn't blame her.

Quality

The British appropriately appropriated this cultural item.

Good quality; does what a Shemagh should do.
