The idea behind the iconic riot shield is as old as shields themselves - a carriable protective barrier against your adversary. Tactics as old as the Roman Empire prove a shield of this size and stature (especially when teamed up with a posse of other shield-wielders) can turn you into a walking tank.
Paulson, a prolific manufacturer of polycarbonate PPE and other riot gear, made these to hold up to some serious abuse. Thrown projectiles, chemicals, and even a little fragmentation can be shrugged off thanks to the quarter-inch thick V-50 rated Lexan™*. If you somehow break one of these under the tremendous load or impact it would take to do so, the material is shatterproof. At 48 inches tall and 24" wide, it's large enough to hide your entire body behind in an upright kneeling position.
*Note: We do not have a specific NIJ rating we could give these, so we can't confirm for sure if there is light ballistic protection or not. For god's sake, stay safe.
The shields are in a one-hand configuration and is ambidextrous if you flip it over. You can also switch the position of the handles by taking off the covers on the outside of the shield and removing the fasteners.
To wear the shield, simply pass your arm through the breakaway strap and adjust for comfort. The shields are approximately 14 pounds in this configuration. The handles are also dielectric polymer alloy with steel-inserts, meaning there is a significantly reduced threat of electric shock to the user.
And no, contrary to the opinion of the 15 year old who berated you on Modern Warfare 2, you're not a P***y if you use the riot shield. Noob tubers on the other hand...
Condition
Excellent: Shields are in nearly new condition, only having seen very light scratches from storage.
Good, No Strap: See the "good" condition below. The shield is missing it's arm strap, but still has the arm handle and foam. A strap could easily be made DIY style if you plan on using the shield for whatever purpose.
Good: Shields have scratches and scuffs that may affect the opacity of the shield. Keep them for character or buff them out with the instructions below (See the photo below for our results).
Buffing and Polishing
A trip to your local hardware store for some automotive compound and polish OR a headlight restoration kit (you may need 2 for the full face of the shield) and you can get most of the clarity back. Keep in mind that this may affect any anti-fog coating on the shield. The shield may appear hazy as you first use the compound, but rest assured the polish and any sealant you may apply will clear it up. You can either apply by hand, use a power drill-style attachment, or for you gearheads, use a dedicated polisher with light to moderate pressure to get the best results (follow the instructions on whatever compound/polish you get)

Came in a box that may double as a coffin for someone crushed by a steamroller, exactly as expected. Plenty of scratches, presumably from previous riots, but it's still solid and comfortable to wield. I can now face future riots with confidence!

Unique product you couldn't seem to find anywhere else. Condition was better than advertised, which is appreciated. My kids have fun shooting lacrosse balls and hockey pucks at me while I am behind the shield.

Been hunting for this for a while, and it's as cool as I thought. Why did I buy this? Because its cool and I want it. This will PROBABLY not be part of my anti-home invasion load out, I won't be grabbing this and a gladius and screaming "VAE VICTIS" as I behead a surrendering tweaker, but it would be interesting to use. The shield is light and sturdy which is important as I have bad forearms arm injuries and have lost most of my muscle, yet I can lift this no problem. It's scratched, but not enough to hinder visibility. The arm brace/whatever is comfortable and reversible. I can't complain about a good condition shield for the price, especially when I've been trying to get one for over a year.
I would probably feel comfortable using this to escape the L.A. riots.
