The 'Nutria Brown' uniform has a straightforward sizing system but the garments themselves have a few quirks. This guide will show you exactly how to get the piece you want...

The Shirts

Both the long sleeve and short sleeve shirts fit true to most standard military field shirts — If you know your American t-shirt size, it'll be spot on with a little wiggle room due to the fact that the Saffies liked to cut their uniforms generously.

If not, here's a size chart we use for all of our T-Shirts you can compare to:

 Size Chest Circumference of Shirt*
Small 36"
Medium 40"
Large 44"
Extra Large 48"
2XL 52"
3XL 56"

*If you want to compare to your favorite tee or shirt that fits perfectly, lay it flat, measure one side from the bottom of the pit to bottom of the pit, and multiply it by 2.

While they don't specify length in their sizing system, these do tend to run longer at the hem to allow for ease of tucking into their respective uniform pants.

Pants

We've converted the old sizing system into one in good 'ol American imperial inches. Being that these pants aren't from America, they're a bit less generous about making you feel good for having a smaller waist size.

The actual measurement of your waist is what you go with, not your usual jeans size (For example, a 38" waisted lad would normally buy 36" regular fit jeans here in America, but everywhere else in the world, they'd have to buy 38s).

The length system is pretty standard to most 3-length systems with a "Short", "Regular" and "Long". do note that some higher waist sizes bump the length up just a hair, so we've added ranges the lengths. If you know your typical named-length size from buying pants online, stick with that.

Bush Jacket

These fit true to most standard military jackets — If you know your American t-shirt size, it'll be about 1-2" larger in the chest to accommodate for layers underneath and due to the fact that the Saffies liked to cut their uniforms generously.

For example: a size "large" jacket would have a chest circumference measurement of 48" and 24" when laid flat, whereas a typical large tee is 22-23" laid flat depending on fit.

All jackets are "regular" length, being about the same as many other surplus parkas & smocks, closely resembling the US M65. If you're a short king, the jacket will ride a little lower than your hips with sleeves that'll just barely go past your wrist. if you're tall it'll still be below your beltline, and the sleeves might be a quarter inch short at the very most.

For example: a size "large" jacket had a collar-to-hem (on the back) measurement of about 32".

When you're part of a largely unsupported military, you need simple, durable gear that endures harsh environments and is easy to repair. The SADF Nutria uniform is a shining example of practical uniform design. Designed for brutal African environments, these unissued SADF Nutria pants are tough enough to take on extended periods in the field. The material is strong, yet lightweight--perfect for tough tasks, long marches, and by design, getting dirty.

The iconic Nutria brown color goes well with a wide variety of environments and camo patterns. Repeated washing and field use lighten the shade, making it more effective in most environments. The Nutria brown cotton-polyester fabric blend wears very hard, hides dirt and grime, and excels at keeping the sun at bay. Based on the info printed on the tags, these pants are from the very last years of the Border War (1990s). This may explain why they were never issued and are still in their original packaging.

Great trousers.

Warning to those that care. These have 5-button flys. Good luck there. Easy to maintain and clean. Good stitching

Lucky I wore brown pants today

These 1987 trousers object to being in the same drawer as my coloured clothing which, I understand, was acceptable at the time.

Sizing seems to be a faction smaller than expected; these 32 fit like a loose 30.

Generous parachute lower legs for those with Popeye calves or spontaneous Hammer Time.

Very pants

These pants are better than I could’ve imagined! Unfortunately, they have developed sentience and have been trying to kill me with an R4 for several hours! Please help.
