The one pouch you can't go without, and usually the first pouch that leads you deep into the pouch-ridden rabbit hole you'll never escape from. But at least when you're trapped down there this pouch will outlive you.
This is the double M4 pouch. The mag cell is designed to hold two standard 30-round STANAG magazines, but polymer mags are going to be a tougher fit. Its certainly possible to shove two in but you'll find it ends up being much too tight. The good news is that these retain even a single magazine well. So if this is mounted on the cummerbund of your plate carrier for example, you'll have a much slimmer profile that your arms wont run into, and some seriously durable mag pouches all the while.
When these were being made, contractors used a thick strap-like nylon to make the flap for the pouches instead of a normal knit for extra rigidity when pulling up on the flap. The mag cells are both enclosed with elastic webbing so they collapse when not in use, and retain magazines well even when the flap is open.
The tall loop field that extends beyond the lip of the pouch means the flap has got a lot of extra room — you can loop this over items all the same size as a 30-rounder or even some taller items & magazines if you get creative.
