In the cold winter of Camp Leatherneck, I snagged a bunk in the tent right next to an air pipe. It so happens this air pipe had a hole cut into it, with tons of wind. Unbeknownst to me, that same pipe was pumping out unfiltered air and I soon had breathing issues from all of the dust flying into my face. End result was chronic coughing with green-weenie mucous and blood. The solution was to use the FROG balaclava issued to me during CIF gear runs. Lo and behold, gear worked and I never had to deal with that again.

Somewhere between AFG and US, I lost that beloved balaclava and never saw it again. Imagine my surprise to find that Kommandostore had something nearly identical. While the top part of the balaclava had a mesh, this balaclava vents but is not 100% identical. Not a big issue, but it's pretty darn close.

Fit is great, stretches for my large head, and is just as comfortable to wear as the issued gear.

Bought this to get free shipping during the MRE Halloween Incident. It has been getting chilly at night here and I enjoy walking home alone at 11 PM so this works well to keep my head warm. I've never worn balaclavas before and for a first impression, this one seems pretty good.

I have a large 60 cm head and the balaclava fit perfectly while still allowing me to wear my glasses without any pressure points. There is a separate flap of fabric for the mouth area so you can easily cover or uncover that place without moving the mask itself. The ventilated top lets you wear hats over without too much overheating. For $18.74, I'm satisfied. It is a double layered balaclava, it has a lining, but the ventilation is good enough that you won't really overheat at night.
