Versengtarn is our tribute to the iconic German Flecktarn pattern. Built up over decades, Germany's Cold War surplus of Flecktarn clothing dominated the surplus market from the early 2000s until 2015/2016.
When we started this project, the politics of the Ukrainian Civil War had turned off the tap on this bottomless supply of high-quality military surplus. With German uniforms making their way into the hands of Russian separatists, the Bundeswehr had ceased all public auctions of Flecktarn uniforms — opting instead to burn their surplus.
Our process takes the iconic Flecktarn pattern and 'scorches' it with a reactive dye, darkening the print and giving each piece a unique appearance. Black, but not quite black — the color of the fabric shifts in the light.
After the dye bath, each field shirt is washed with a binding agent, removing any residual dye. The resulting Versengtarn fabric will not leech color or chemicals — it is clean enough to put in your mouth (if you're into that.)

Versengtarn is a heavily darkened flecktarn, with a possible slight blue/purple hue depending on lighting conditions. We've taken a photo showing the variations that come out of our dye process — note that no two dyed examples will be the same.

At first glance, its just another parka. The flex'tarn is cool and the material is well built. Boring right? Then you see how much work went into the dye job to reinvent a classic. It's perfect its just right and its undoubtedly cooler than MCB.
Size "8" wore perfectly if a little big for putting a sweatshirt under it.
5'11 200 lbs.

Looks sick. Pockets galore. Probably the coolest parka I've ever had.
Wish more sizes were available since the size I ordered does feel just a bit tight around the chest/pits when layering, which wouldn't be an issue in my regular size, but alas. On the other hand it makes for a great casual parka.

I'm 5'6" and 125# on a heavy day, but I have long arms, so I ordered a size 06. The body was too voluminous - to be fair, I know it's meant to allow layers underneath, but my layers are usually close-fitting ones, not bulky ones - and the sleeves were still a tad short for my taste (I like sleeves that are generally considered too long, so that they don't ride up so much when I raise my arms).
The parka was in great shape overall. It was not totally "burnt" like I was hoping, but had a very muted flecktarn with a reddish tint to the black pattern. Very handsome and would have raised me from a solid three to at least a five on the 1-10 scale.

Where to start, super durable fabric . Love the hand pockets that reach into the lapels, this jacket can hold most of my EDC . It looks like it can stand a few layers of beeswax/paraffin and hopefully that might bring that badass camo pattern out. Very cool urban camo aesthetic. One base layer or hoody under makes for a storm shell well worth the money.
