Update 9: SMERSH on the High Seas
We've been getting more questions about the status of SMERSH, so here's the next (much awaited) update...
When we last left off in May, the SMERSH Rigs had been picked up by the freight company, and the rigs were to set sail to the US immediately.
The freight company has unfortunately delayed our shipment far beyond what could've been expected. We had originally worked to secure a quoted "30-day port-to-port delivery" from the factory, but this estimate has now effectively been doubled.
First, our container was delayed for approximately 2 weeks from leaving port after it was handed off from the factory. Then, the container switched boats which delayed delivery even further, and finally the delivery is expected to take another 2 weeks once it reaches the US.
Currently the SMERSH Rigs are expected to reach the US on July 5th but will take another 2 weeks for both US customs clearance and "final mile" delivery. Our best current estimate is that we'll have the rigs on hand and shipping out to customers July 21st-25th.
We want to sincerely apologize for this delay — we're frustrated at our freight company for greatly exceeding their original quoted time. We're continually looking at solutions to remedy the situation and get the rigs sooner than the stated ETA.
Despite all that, the good news is that while it's a little later, it's still on the water heading to the USA. After a lot of turbulence throughout this project, progress is progress.
