Lets face it — when it comes to wind and water resistance, Gore-Tex is the good stuff. It doesn't come around often and we have limited stock of it. 

We're not talking about your typical surplus pants, Think more like Arc'Teryx LEAF but about 90% off. We love Austrian surplus; especially when they make it with Gore-Tex. And it's not hard to see why. 

The Austrian Bundesheer has famously high standards for their gear. In the punishing climate of the Alps, they need some of the best damn clothing in the world to adapt to it's conditions. Wet or windy, these pants can take it.

The Gore-Tex pants have zippers going down the entire side seam to expand and contract if you're layering a lot of gear or need to don the pants without taking your boots off. Additionally, the zipper allows for pass-through near the top to get at underlayer pockets. They also feature integrated adjustable suspenders, a drawstring waist, an interior zippered mesh pocket, zippered fly,  and everything has a storm flap to keep every molecule of air and water possible out of your pants.

Generation

We've sorted the Alpine Hardshell pants by generation:

The "Old Gen" uses SympaTex and has a smoother outershell, reminiscent of heavier commercial snow pants (without the weight of course). Color wise they're very close to the M65 Waterproof Parka.

The "New Gen" uses Gore-Tex and has a sturdy outershell. Color wise it's very close to the Austrian Alpine Hardshell Parka.

Condition 

Pants are in great condition. Some wear-marks or minor blemishes may be present. No holes, tears, or fading.

Refer to this sizing chart. Note that these are meant to fit slightly large in order to accommodate layers underneath.

Fits Over Pants

Does as says, bought two different pairs to use: One completed the gore-tex set, the other as a backup/extra to use for other rain jackets I have. Velcro on the sides can be annoying, but solved with covering it with a Velcro strips to make it slightly easier to access pass-through pockets.

The tits

Never before have I gotten a piece of gear that I felt so quickly upon opening and trying on that it would improve my quality of life. I was in the market for a gore Tex bib type pant for climbing and skiing. I run pretty warm and so have gotten by with soft shells and no other layer but recently have gotten good soakings in deep snow etc. A friend climbs in flek yarn gore Tex pants and those are not totally my style so I searched for something similar and found these. I’m fairly blown away and stoke on them for my mountain pursuits. The only pocket is reached internally so even in really wet or snowy conditions it won’t get soaked. The zip on the side goes all the way and while I don’t think it would be as easy as some commercial hard shell pants, I think you could get them on over other garments and boots this way because the fabric in between the zipper, or just cut that out entirely. Either way insane value and great bit of kit.

Very awesome

I love mine, they have been awesome, and up until recently have been withstanding the abuse of snowboarding and showmachining rather well, but developed a small rip in the crotch seam. 4 stars still because they were easy to fix.

it’s a cold rainy day

bags o bones behind and all around you are rattling cold & wet shivering

your girlfriend looks at you in your Anzug jacket and pant goretex combo drip with the rain dripping off
