Eighty Four Combat Uniform Update 2: Breaking Radio Silence

It's been a while since our last update on the Eighty-Four combat uniforms, so here’s the situation report.

There's been plenty of speedbumps along the way that unfortunately slowed things down, but we'd like to show you what we've been up to since our last update in December.  Our goal with these uniforms from the beginning wasn’t just to make a clone, but to improve on the original design as much as possible, just like we did with the Eighty-Four balaclava.

We want to do right by all of you guys who've been waiting, but to do that, we need to change the delivery window from end of Quarter 2, to Quarter 3 of this year.

The good news is, we are entering the final round of prototyping for the full sizing range as we speak...

Revisiting feature improvements & changes over the original we've made

Within the last few months, we’ve made 5 different prototypes. The main changes we’ve been working on throughout our prototyping phase has been improving the fit and ergonomics of the pants.

The biggest problem we found with the original LEAF pants is that there’s not enough room in the seat, so we adjusted the patterning to fix that & there’s also a lot of room for improvement with the ergonomics in general. We’re adding more room in bend points to increase the range of motion. The last major change was to slightly move down the kneepad pocket to avoid it riding up on the knee. But dialing in all of these improvements is what we think will take these from a mere 1:1 clone to a clear set of improvements that makes these pants a lot more competitive with some of the other offerings on the market.

And of course, to make sure the fit will be consistent from Small through 2XL, we tested them with a wide range of body types. 

Once these final samples are tested and meet our standards, we’re moving straight into full-scale production, and we’ll have a much more concrete delivery date.
